In fact, her owner is looking forward to competing in international regattas and extensively cruising the Med, the Caribbean, and North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Launching the evening of May 21 at Southern Wind Shipyard\u2019s Cape Town yard, <em>Fortissimo<\/em> is hull six in the SW96 series. Like her predecessors, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/2024\/03\/yacht-liberty-southern-wind-shipyard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the yacht <em>Liberty<\/em><\/a> from 2024, she\u2019s a sloop combining bluewater voyages and competitive performance. A lifting keel within her carbon composite hull complements these intentions. Still, though, Southern Wind welcomed the owner\u2019s requests to support his specific goals on the water, based on his extensive experience. \u201cWith each new yacht, we continued to evolve the platform while responding to the specific visions of the owners,\u201d Marco Alberti, Southern Wind\u2019 CEO, notes.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SWS-Fortissimo-launch4.jpg\" alt=\"launch of the yacht Fortissimo\" class=\"wp-image-88659\" srcset=\"https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SWS-Fortissimo-launch4.jpg 780w, https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SWS-Fortissimo-launch4-300x154.jpg 300w, https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SWS-Fortissimo-launch4-768x394.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With naval architecture by Farr Yacht Design, the yacht Fortissimo has several modifications aimed at boosting sailing efficiency. For example, a new J4\/baby stay system with a halyard lock and hydraulic tensioner is aboard. An extra set of winches\u2014specifically, a third set\u2014are in the aft cockpit, enabling more complex racing maneuvers. \u201cThe additional running backstay winches signal an unambiguous racing intent,\u201d explains Yann Dabbadie, Southern Wind\u2019s technical manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resonating with her racing personality, the interior of <em>Fortissimo<\/em> has subtle carbon-like accents. With Nauta Yacht Design, the owner created a clearly contemporary atmosphere warmly welcoming guests. Ultraleather-covered surfaces, soft fabrics, and other rich textures invite them to settle in while simultaneously enjoying panoramic views. Since the sailing superyacht has a raised-saloon arrangement, sunlight is as much a part of the interior experience as the touchable surfaces are. Altogether, six friends and family have three staterooms, one of which is aft of the saloon. The master suite, meanwhile, is fully forward. After races or on passages, everyone can relax in the saloon and a TV area forward of it.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SWS-Fortissimo-launch1.jpg\" alt=\"launch of the yacht Fortissimo\" class=\"wp-image-88656\" srcset=\"https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SWS-Fortissimo-launch1.jpg 780w, https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SWS-Fortissimo-launch1-300x154.jpg 300w, https:\/\/megayachtnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/SWS-Fortissimo-launch1-768x394.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sea trials are set for the coming weeks, after which the yacht <em>Fortissimo<\/em> will cruise in the Western Med for the summer. Afterwards, she\u2019ll race for the first time in Ibiza JoySail in September. Her owner, who was at the launch, is beyond excited. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to cruise it! I can\u2019t wait to race it!\u201d he says. <em>\u201cFortissimo<\/em> comes from sheet music.
