The Sanlorenzo X-Space series<\/a> initially pledged to blend the best features of the shipyard\u2019s Explorer line and its traditional Steel navetta<\/em> series. While that\u2019s still true, a better description is a megayacht with a massive amount of space compared to competitors. In just 145 feet (44 meters) of length, the yacht La La Land<\/em>, the first Sanlorenzo 44X-Space, pushes space and volume to new heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She pushes them literally and figuratively. Firstly, Sanlorenzo and Zuccon International Project conceived the 44X-Space series to have five decks, two more than typical. Volume, meanwhile, typically comes in at 495 gross tons. Each of these exceeds typical characteristics for the size range. Notably, the owner of the yacht La La Land<\/em> wanted even more. Specifically, he has a sixth deck, plus benefits from 499 GT. For comparable volume, you\u2019d need to consider superyachts of approximately 164 feet (50 meters). As for the six decks, far, far larger superyachts offer that many.<\/p>\n\n\n

To keep her from appearing overwhelming, Zuccon International Project balanced her proportions, with further input from Piero Lissoni, the interior designer. While many megayacht build and design teams talk about seamless interiors and exteriors, the Sanlorenzo 44X-Space takes the concept further. \u201cIt has become an almost completely glass boat,\u201d Lissoni says. Many non-structural walls both inside and outside are glass and therefore fully transparent. In fact, \u201cSome of the cabins no longer even have portholes, but glass walls,\u201d he explains. \u201cThe interior has forced its hand on the exterior, and the exterior has been so elastic and so well designed that the interior almost fits in in a totally natural way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Features like sliding-glass doors that tuck completely out of sight help unite the two. It\u2019s true on the main deck as well as the upper deck, the owners\u2019 private domain. There\u2019s further an opening skylight in the master suite, for fresh air whether the yacht La La Land<\/em> is underway or at anchor. Additionally, the lounging area aft of the bedroom has an opening window, complementing the just-mentioned glass doors. Alfresco dining on the owners\u2019 deck remains possible, and unobstructed, on breezy days thanks to glass windbreakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a foredeck sunning, lounging, and swimming area solely for the owners (and with private access from their suite), the yacht La La Land<\/em> certainly redefines conventional spatial thinking. It extends to the captain, too, whose cabin and wheelhouse both sit on the bridge deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While future Sanlorenzo clients may be inspired by the truly tailored nature of the yacht La La Land,<\/em> one more area is worth noting. The shipyard and Lissoni fashioned a multi-purpose room forward on the main deck. While aboard La La Land<\/em> it’s a cinema with a bar, it otherwise can be a dining area for 12 or a capacious sixth stateroom.<\/p>\n\n\n

Whatever the configuration, the Sanlorenzo 44X-Space sets herself apart. \u201cI believe this is the most innovative language I have seen to date on a superyacht,\u201d Lissoni declares. \u201cIt has made it possible to create a boat that is compact but with extraordinary proportions and the unique quality of Sanlorenzo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
