Few yachts remain in their original owners’ hands five years after delivery, much less a decade later. The yacht 2 Ladies is even more unusual, belonging to the same friends who commissioned her in 2010. That gives them exceptionally clear ideas on how to ensure a custom yacht of near-vintage status remains rooted in contemporary cruising preferences. A recently completed extensive refit in Croatia delivered what should carry them, quite literally, through many more years of enjoyment.

Launched by Rossinavi in 2012, the yacht 2 Ladies was already unusual by design. Amid her 152 feet (46.3 meters), she has two identical-size master suites, a nod to her name. The friends who own her—further business partners—intended to cruise together with their significant others. In 2023, they sought assistance for technical upgrades, along with steel repair work. They chose Capax, a Croatia-based engineering and project-management firm specializing in refit and service. Capax is also affiliated with a Croatian shipyard, Adria Docks, where it has managed work for medium- to large-size superyachts. The yacht 2 Ladies completed the punchlist there from 2023 into 2024, on time and budget according to Teo Petricevic, the CEO of Capax. So, when the owners had a longer and more intensive wish list last year, they went back to Capax. “We understood that the standard expected was nothing less than exceptional,” Petricevic says.

This time, the owners not only wanted equipment changes, but also commissioned a configuration change. In fact, they wanted the sundeck bar and lounge area to better reflect how they, and charter guests, spend their time. With a refreshed design by Mulder Design, who originally penned 2 Ladies’ features, they got what they wanted. The two are more like one large area that lends the feeling of transcending time. Stainless steel and teak subtly accentuate the white surfaces.

Speaking of teak, entirely new teak decking is on every level aboard the megayacht as well. Additionally, a full repaint from top to bottom followed installation of new steel plates in the hull. Deep inside, new gensets keep hotel loads powered. Remaining unchanged, however, are the two master staterooms for the two owners. One is on the main deck, while the other is aft on the upper deck. Both include private lounge areas, too.

The owners took redelivery in time for this Med season. “The yacht was built for them, by them, and their connection to this yacht is evident in every detail,” Petricevic asserts. “We are proud to deliver a yacht that is not simply repaired, but truly renewed.”
